Every once in a while, and more often than not in this paleo sphere, we come across a company or a person who is doing something good for us, good for you, and just for the greater good. Tx Bar Organics is one such company, and we were honored they chose to send us some of their delicious grass-fed beef to taste (well, technically, it was for us to devour). A family-owned operation located in Northern California, the Martinez family is doing stuff right – and raising some cattle that yield fantastic grassfed grass finished beef!
Steak...mmm mmm good.
Not only are they doing right in their animal husbandry practices, and being as green as possible in their shipping practices, but they are also doing their part to give back. You see, for every 20 pounds of meat ordered from them, they donate 1 p0und of ground beef to a needy family through their Food For a Cause program. As they say, “Eat well, help others do the same.” We have a lot of respect for companies out there like Tx Bar Organics who do what they can to give back, as that’s something very central to who we are.
And they are giving away a $75 certificate to one lucky winner, to be drawn April 16th at 8:00pm EST. All you have to do to enter is go here to sign up for their newsletter. That is all! Winner must live in the continental United States.
Because you’re all winners in our book, you can use the code PALEOCOMFORT to receive 10% off any order you place with Tx Bar Organics. What are you waiting for? Go order some beef, and feel good about where your food is coming from, and the folks you might be helping.

TX Bar Organics Grass Fed Beef!
A few weeks ago, we received a package of the very best kind - a gift of organic grass fed beef! The package was from TX Bar Organics
, which is a small family business in Northern California. You can tell Travis Martinez and his family are passionate about what they do because their website is full of useful information about the science behind grass fed, organic and sustainable farming as well as recipes, rubs and marinades.
When the package arrived here is NW Georgia, which is a long way from Northern California, it was an unseasonably warm day and as luck would have it, we were not at home. I was a little nervous that the meat may have defrosted, but no worries! It was packaged very well in a strong insulated box with dry ice, and was still hard as a rock. Since we had never tried anything from them before, we decided to do a comparison between some grocery store beef and the beef from TX Bar Organics:
The difference was even more obvious than the picture shows...the grocery store meat was very pink while the beef from TX Bar Organics was crimson. The smell, the taste and the meaty texture were so obviously superior. We had some of the best hamburgers (bun-less of course) we've ever had. And we're really looking forward to trying out the steaks and roast! Hopefully, I'll be posting my recipe for corned beef later this week...if things go as planned.
On top of having a wonderful product, Travis and his family are very generous. Not only did they gift us with some of their meat, they give their grass-fed organic meat away every day! For every 20 pounds of meat they sell, they give a pound of ground beef to families struggling to put food on the table. It's part of their "Food For A Cause" program which currently serves their local area but Travis and his family hope to make it a nationwide program in the future.
They offer tenderloin tips, ground beef, steaks, roasts, grass-fed beef jerky and a variety of packages. And on top of being organic and grass-fed, they participate in the Global Animal Partnership where you can be sure the animals are humanely treated. For the next 30 days, TX Bar Organics will give you 10% off of your first order if you enter "PALEO" in the discount code. And in addition to that, one lucky winner will get a $75 credit to spend as they choose at their online store
. All you need to do is follow this link to sign up for their newsletter
before midnight (PDT) March 14th, 2012. At the end of the week, a winner will be randomly selected and notified by email. How easy is that? And if you place an order with them, you'll be supporting a company that cares about their animals, helping people and protecting our earth.
As an expression of my sincere gratitude for your support in voting for me as the Best Food Photography on a Blog in The 2012 Homies, I’m hosting a giveaway for FREE GRASS FED ORGANIC BEEF!

One of the perks of my job is that I get to do reviews on new products. Some of you may
know that this girl loves beef, and nothing speaks to my heart more than grass-fed,
humanely raised beef. Luckily for me, TX Bar Organics sent me some of their beef to try out.
They Love Their Animals
TX Bar Organics sells 100% grass-fed, organic, Step 4 (pasture centered) beef that comes from cattle raised in Northern California. Their beef is third party verified that it’s humanely treated and never injected with growth hormones or antibiotics. What’s “Step 4″? That means that on a 5+ scale, they’re at step 4, as certified by theGlobal Animal Partnership:
Global Animal Partnership 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards for Beef
Here’s a blog post they wrote on how exactly their cattle live. Basically, it means the cattle spend their whole lives happily eating grass in a pasture, but they may have had their testicles removed, and they may not have been on the same ranch their entire lives. As far as I’m concerned, I’d eat this meat any day.
They Love Their People
In addition to their kindness to their animals, they also have a heart for humans. They started a program within their small business called Food For A Cause: for every 20 pounds of beef they sell, they give a pound of beef to a needy family. This company has my back.
I Love Their Meat
Which brings me to my review of their meat. They kindly sent me an entire box of steaks, roasts, and ground beef so I could have a taste. I thought it would be similar to the local beef I’ve been working my way through in my freezer – sort of dry and kind of gamey. But it was not those things. On the contrary, it was juicy, tender, and delicious. I made steak and eggs out of some top sirloin. I cooked the steak in a pan for 2 minutes on both sides on medium heat, then I stuck it in my convection oven for about 3 minutes total. Then I made a reduction sauce out of the meat drippings with some honey mead, balsamic vinegar, rosemary, salt, and pepper. I fried some pasture raised eggs and sautéed some bell peppers, cabbage, and kale in tallow. It was divine. Have a look.
Win Some of Their Beef!
The good news for you is that you have a chance to win $75 worth of their meat by signing up here for their newsletter mailing list. Yeah, I know, I know. One more mailing list to be on. But it’s a mailing list that will notify you of deals on delicious grass-fed, cruelty-free, organic, juicy BEEF. Here’s that link again. Anyway, go there quickly, get on the list and they’ll pick someone to receive the $75 gift card on Friday morning (March 9th, 2012).
In addition, they’re giving you guys a promo code – PALEOPLANROCKS – to get 10% off of their products until April 1st.
So vote with your dollars, folks. Show Walmart what’s up by spending your money with good old-fashioned ranchers like the people at TX Bar Organics who treat their animals right and provide us with healthy, nutrient-dense beef.
Grass Fed Beef Giveaway!
FEBRUARY 29, 2012BY
Since we all purged our pantries last week, our kitchens might be looking at bit bare!
I’m so excited to pair up with TX Bar Organics for this giveaway!
They are a locally owned ranch in Northern California and they sell 100% grass-fed and grass-finished organic beef! I got to try some of their beef and it was delicious. It was also wonderful when my husband came home from the hospital and needed to get his iron levels up after surgery.
What really attracted me to TX Bar Organics though, was a charity that they started called Food for a Cause. For every 20 pounds of beef they sell, they donate a pound of their organic, grass-fed beef to a local food-bank or family in need.
We all know how tough it can be to eat a healthy diet on a budget, and the foods that are most often donated to food banks have virtually no nutritional value at all, so this is a much needed outreach that I hope will spread across the country!
TX Bar Organics has also agreed to give Wellness Mama readers a 15% discount on their first order with the code WELLNESSMAMA!
Tx Bar Organics has graciously offered a $75 gift card for their organic beef to one Wellness Mama reader. All you have to do is be signed up for my newsletter and thenclick here to sign up for their newsletter and enter the contest. They will randomly select a winner on March 3rd and notify the winner via email!
By signing up for their newsletter, you’ll also be the first to know about their deals and specials, and if you ever order from them, you’ll be helping families in need too!
Introducing TX Bar Organics Grass Fed Beef and a Giveaway!!
I happen to receive about 10 million emails a day and I really do try to get through all of them but honestly it would be impossible for me to reply personally to each one, otherwise emailing people would be all that I do. However, from time to time, people are persistent or the timing is right and I read an email that grabs me, yanks me in, and doesn’t let me go. That was the case with a recent email sent to me by Travis Martinez, owner of TX Bar Organics.
When I first saw the email from Travis with the subject line, “TX Bar Organics,” I thought it was someone trying to sell me a protein bar, so that first email went ignored, but something about the second email made me open it. I was so wrong with my first impression; this was not a protein bar salesperson but a local gentleman who raises 100% grass fed beef and not only that, but he is giving back to our local families in need.
Travis also runs a program called, “Food for a Cause.”
With Food for a Cause, for every 20 lbs of product sold, TX Bar Organics will give one pound of ground beef to a needy family that has recently lost their jobs due to hardships in our economy. Through this cause TX Bar Organics hopes to feed families starting in the local surrounding areas and at some point, and with your support, they are hoping to go nationwide and even hope to help feed starving families around the world.
So, let’s get this thing started! Place an order today with TX Bar Organics and use the promo code “everydaypaleo” to receive a 15% discount on your first order!! Spread the word, and trust me, you will love the quality and taste of the meat from TX Bar Organics. Also, one lucky winner will receive a sampler package of grass fed beef! To enter to win, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number or proof of purchase for pre-ordering Paleo Pals: Jimmy and the Carrot Rocket Ship from either Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You can also enter to win by emailing me a link to where you have tweeted, Facebooked, or blogged about Paleo Pals. Thank you so much for your support! Winners will be picked by random drawing and announced on my Facebook page and on the blog, so hurry and enter for your chance to win! Winner to be announced on Wednesday, February 1st!
Now for a teaser! Here is one thing that I made with the meat that I have tried from TX Bar Organics, a simple top sirloin steak on top of grilled veggies – easy and delicious. This meat is so good that not a lot needs to be done to make the flavors come through. Another recipe I made with the beef kabob meat actually made it into my next cookbook, so you’ll have to wait anxiously for that one… In the meantime, enjoy!
Grilled Top Sirloin
Season both sides of your steak with a little salt and pepper. Grill the steak on a lightly oiled hot grill for 4-5 minutes on each side. Let the steak rest at least 5 minutes before you slice it! Serve on grilled veggies. No need for ANYTHING else!!
